About Rising Sun Empowerment Network (RISEN)
RISEN offers programs and services to facilitate a holistic integration of immigrants, especially African-Canadians, into the Canadian Society. The programs and services range from training and mentoring to artistic and cultural events that will support the immigrants as they pursue their Canadian dreams and become excellent, productive members of the Society. At RISEN, we harness the great potential within the African Canadian community to support new and settling immigrants. We strive to make the new immigrant’s journey and as memorable and fruitful as possible. We walk with each immigrant every step of the way, on their journey to establishing and excelling in Canada. We bring together professionals, not-for-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, tradespeople, home makers, community leaders, and students to realize our mission. Our strategic approach combines cross-racial grassroots advocacy, mentoring, leadership development, direct program and service delivery, cultural resistance, , community-focused research and multi-ethnic coalition building.
As an organization, we focus on empowerment and seek to enact long-term, positive integration skills in the individuals we are honoured to support.
